Juniors: 6 – 8 years old:
Pre-Race Meeting:
August 17, 2024, at 3:30 pm outside the transition area.
Age Rule:
This event will follow the USAT “Age-Up rule”. This means that the age of the athlete is determined not by the age on race day but the age the athlete will be on December 31, 2023. For example, if your child is 8 years old today but will turn 9 on, let’s say November 20, 2024, he/she will race as a 9-year-old. This may require that your athlete goes from the Junior category to the Intermediate (longer race distance). If the distance is a concern of yours, you may choose to race-down (stay in the Junior category). But this must be done by 4:00 pm on August 17, 2024 (the day before the race). He/she will still get a final race time however, you will not be eligible for awards (still get finisher’s medal). We want to make sure that kids are comfortable with the distance, have fun, and are safe as a priority!
Age Divisions:
Distances for the Peach Kids Triathlon - Dawsonville will vary, depending on the age of participants:
Junior 6 – 8, 50-yard swim, 1.5-mile bike ( laps), and 500-yard run.
Intermediate 9 – 11, 100-yard swim, 3-mile bike (3 laps) and 1K run.
Senior 12 – 14, 200-yard swim, 6-mile bike (5 laps), and 2K run.
In accordance with USA Triathlon rules, an athlete’s racing age is his/her age on December 31st of the competition year. Peach Kids Triathlon - Dawsonville will assign athletes to their respective age division according to their age on December 31 per USAT rules.
Transition and Bike Check-In:
Transition and bike check-in is ONLY ON RACE DAY. The transition will open to all age divisions at 6:00 am and will close at 7:15 am for ALL age groups. Once transition closes, participants and parents must exit the transition and make their way to the swim start. Parents are only allowed in transition 6:00 – 7:15 am to help rack bikes and help set up participant transition area.
Please have all your bib numbers, bike numbers, and helmet numbers in place prior to entering transition. This will streamline the check-in process at transition.
PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE TRANSITION DURING THE RACE OR DURING THE BREAKS BETWEEN THE DIVISION STARTS. We highly recommend you arrive at the early bike check-in by 6:15 am to avoid the stress of the transition set up. We will have volunteers in the transition to help kids find their way to their bikes and ensure participants have their helmets on before starting the race. If you have one bike to be used by two different athletes in SEPARATE DIVISIONS, they will be able to share a bike. Please make sure that they are in separate divisions (Junior, Intermediate, and Senior).
Bikes will be racked in designated areas. These racks are numbered for easy spotting. They are numbered in conjunction with racers bib numbers. We will allow 6 bikes per rack anywhere within the racer's number division. Be courteous and do not move bikes that have already been put in their place. Placing is based on a first-come, first-served.
Body Marking
