Event Timeline:
- 5:00 am Transition Opens.
- 5:30 am to 6:15am Packet Pick Up.
- 6:30 Transition Closes.
- 6:35 am Pre-Race Meeting (Mandatory)
- 7:00 am Swim Start.
- 10:00 to 10:30 am Awards Ceremony
- 7:00 am Youth 12 – 15 F1
- 7:45 am Junior 16 – 19 F1
- 9:00 am Collegiate
Age Rule:
This event will follow the USAT “Age-Up rule”. This means that the age of the athlete is determined not by the age on race day but the age the athlete will be on December 31, 2013.
Age Divisions:
Distances for the F1 Challenge Draft Legal Triathlon will vary, depending on the age of participants:
- 12 – 15 years, draft legal, 375m swim, 8 mile bike, 2k run
- 16-19 years, draft legal, 750m swim, 12 mile bike, 5k run
- Collegiate, 18 – 25, 750m swim, 12 mile bike, 5k run (Must be currently enrolled at a College or University)
In accordance with USA Triathlon rules, an athlete’s racing age is his/her age on December 31st of the competition year. F1Challenge will assign athletes to their respective age division according to their age on December 31 per USAT rules.
Transition and Bike Check-In:
Transition and bike check-in is ONLY ON RACE DAY. The transition will open to all age divisions at 5:00 am and will close at 6:30 am. Bikes will be racked in designated areas that are identified by race number. Placing is based on first come, first served. Gear bags are not allowed in transition area. A separate bag check tent will be available for athletes to leave their personal gear so to avoid clutter in the transition area.
Body Marking:
Participants will have a race number marked on their arms and legs by our staff and volunteers. This will take place in the transition area before the race. Each participant will have their age marked on the back of their leg.
Registration and Athlete Check-In:
There will be a number of tables which you will need to visit with volunteers to help guide you, to make sure you are properly registered and ready to race. A parent or legal guardian and the athletes must be present during athlete check in.
Athlete Check-In – Parent/Guardian and participant must go to this table. We will cross reference your online registration and you will be asked to sign the waivers and will be given their racer number. PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A USAT MEMBERSHIP THAT YOU DID NOT PURCHASE ON-SITE OR WHEN REGISTERING ONLINE THROUGH ACTIVE.COM YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SHOW YOUR USAT YOUTH MEMBERSHIP CARD. IF YOU DO NOT SHOW THIS ID YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE A MEMBERSHIP ON-SITE. NO EXCEPTIONS!
You will pick up the following:
1. Race Bag
2. IT IS MANDATORY TO WEAR THE SWIM CAP THAT IS PROVIDED FOR YOU.
3. Bike frame sticker, helmet sticker and number sticker for your personal belongings bag. There will be safety pins with your race bib.
4. Timing Chip – Pick up your assigned timing chip race morning
5. T-Shirt – Pick up your cool F1 Challenge Triathlon T-Shirt!
Transition:
The swim to bike transition and the bike to run transition are in the same place. Each participant will have a spot to rack his/here bike and set up necessary equipment.

Swim Start: is a mass start by age group and sex.
Bike Course:
Each division will be on the same looped course, with loops of the course for the 12-15, 16-19 and Collegiate Divisions. Participants will be removed from the race course when the first participant completes the bike segment of the race.
Run Course:
The run course will be on paved roads. Please make sure your child knows what division he/she is in, as we will be referring to division to help direct participants along the course.
Aid Stations:
There will be one aid station in the transition, no aid stations on the bike course and one aid station on the run course. Aid stations will have water.
Timing:
Our race will be chip-timed. EACH PARTICIPANT MUST WEAR A TIMING CHIP AT ALL TIMES DURING THE RACE OR HE/SHE WILL NOT RECEIVE A TIME RESULT.Once the participant has crossed the finish line there will be volunteers retrieving the timing chip. ALL TIMING CHIPS MUST BE RETURNED. Timing results will be posted on the Georgia Multisports Productions website.
Awards:
The primary mission of F1 Challenge Triathlon is to deliver a high quality youth triathlon experience for the entire family that is focused on fitness, fun and safety. Trophies will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in each individual age group per gender (i.e. Boys age 12 -15, Girls age 12 – 15). Ribbons will be awarded to all second and third place finishers.

- MUST attend pre-race meeting at 6:35 am
- Must mount bike after the mount line and dismount before the dismount line
- Race uniform must cover the athlete’s torso, either a one or two piece tri suit or one piece swim suit for females is allowed.
- Athletes are called to the start line by number or name
- Once called to the start line the athlete must select a position on the start line and remain there until the race begins.
- Athletes cannot block the forward progress of other athletes.
- If water temperature is below 68 F athletes are allowed to wear wetsuits.
- Designated swim caps must be worn
- Bike helmets must be worn at all times on the bike with the chin strap buckled
- NO aero helmets allowed
- No riding bikes in the transition area
- Timing chip must be worn at all times during the race to receive race times
- Race numbers (bibs)must be worn at all times during the bike and run portion
- Parents are not allowed in the transition during the race
- Only traditional road bike with wheels with minimum 12 spokes allowed, no disc wheels allowed, aero bars may not extended beyond handle bar brake levers and must be bridged. Handle bar ends must be plugged. Helmet must be free of defects and ANSI or Snell approved.
Parent Conduct:
Georgia Multisports Productions environment is a safe and fun place for kids to participate in the great sport of triathlon. In order to ensure that your children walk away with the best experience, we need to uphold a positive and supportive atmosphere at all times. Parents are asked to be supportive of all the children that are out there trying their best to achieve their goals,
Bad conduct from a parent can result in a disqualification of their own child. Bad conduct constitutes of the following (but not limited to):
- Negative comments to your own child or another child
- Yelling at volunteers, race officials, other parents or participants
- Interference with participants or race officials
Any disputes must be taken up with a race official (not a volunteer). The protocol for a dispute is to go to the registration booth and ask to have a race official be notified. Once a race official is with you, please calmly explain your dispute. It is our goal for everyone to walk away with a great experience so we will do our best to resolve all issues in a timely and pleasant manner.
